MYOFASCIAL PAIN

Myofascial Pain

Myofascia is the fascia or layers of tissue that line the muscle fibers to give them shape and support.  Disruption of this fascia can cause it to bind and may result in abnormal pressure on the muscles, nerves, or organs.  The pain of myofascial pain syndrome comes from the development of trigger points in the myofascia. It can affect any skeletal muscle in the body, but most commonly occurs in the head, neck, shoulders, arms, legs, and lower back.
